“Rightness” First: Nidec’s Commitment to Revitalization

Commitment to Revitalization

I’m Mitsuya Kishida, Representative Director and President of Nidec Corporation.
I would like to start by deeply apologizing to all the stakeholders who support our company. I am deeply sorry for the great trouble and concern caused by our current issues and situation.
In the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting held on June 18, we received many criticisms, feedback, and concerns about our current situation. Even so, all proposals presented to shareholders were approved. We believe this shows strong support from our shareholders for our efforts to rebuild Nidec and increase corporate value under the new management. At the same time, we take this very seriously as a clear message that we must complete our reforms.
Taking the approval as a new starting point, the Nidec Group will stay united and committed to our major reform.

To Reform Culture, Systems, and Processes

The latest incidents are partly caused by a failure of governance in our corporate culture, systems, and processes. This is why I believe we all must think and act actively to reform Nidec
We are now making major reforms across the entire group. To improve our corporate culture, we will end the top-down approach and create a safe organization where people can speak freely. To achieve this, we are actively holding workshops and town hall meetings so employees can share their ideas across all departments and positions.
Next is about our systems. We are expanding our internal reporting system and updating HR system to properly reward employees who “do the right thing.” In addition, to improve our work processes, we have completely separated the accounting department from the business divisions. This ensures that accurate figures are reported.

From Here to Future

From now on, our top priority is to “do the right thing.” We will leave our old corporate culture behind, and review all improper customs, without exception.
Also, to guide our reform, we have created the “REDEFINED NIDEC”. It consists of three principles: Speak openly. Work with integrity. / Turn dreams into impact you stand behind. / Build across perspectives for the next era.
“Through Monozukuri and an unyielding spirit, we move forward with the world.”
In the future, we will turn this policy into our company’s Purpose pursuing greater social value and sense of reward. I will remain fully focused on reforming Nidec until the day we meet everyone’s expectations once again.

Kishida in Action

The documentary videos in this section show President Kishida visit Nidec's business bases in and outside Japan to talk with employees. Please see how passionately and seriously he faces and struggles with the reform, and works with employees to recover trust in Nidec as the company undergoes transformation.
