Ministers from the Welsh government visited the headquarters of Nidec Drives in Newtown, Wales, UK, on August 21.
As the largest private employer in the central region with approximately 600 employees, the facility earned high praise for strengthening its manufacturing capabilities through an investment of up to £40 million over the past five years. During the visit, discussions centered on collaborating with the government and educational institutions to train next-generation engineers. Currently, about 10% of employees participate in specialized training and internships, alongside ongoing university partnerships to support local science and math education. The team also shared plans to install a large-scale solar power generation system at the factory. Through locally rooted job creation and eco-friendly manufacturing, Nidec continues to contribute to the region's sustainable economic growth.
