Identifying the issues’ root causes and preventing their recurrence

On May 13, 2026, we issued a public statement on suspected improper quality-related practices. Amid 1,000-plus suspected cases of improper practices confirmed, we launched an investigation committee comprising outside experts and have it start an investigation on the same day to identify details on relevant facts, find the causes of the practices, and prepare effective improvement measures for us to fulfill our responsibility to ensure excellent product quality.
Then I flew to the United States on May 18 to have face-to-face talks with the top executives of some of our long-term and most important customers of the country. The open explanations onsite to our customers made me strongly realize that we had lost their trust in us.
Regaining the market’s and our customers’ trust essentially requires us to identify all issues and problems immediately. We must avoid a case of identifying new issues and problems after reporting everything.
This is why, at our workplace, we should once again think where these issues’ and problems’ root causes are. The quality opinion box continues to be available for use on the internal portal site.Report any issue, however small/tiny it may be. Your opinions and suggestions are all welcome. Please be active in expressing your opinions, and let’s all work on our reform of Nidec.
